i might have overdone it a bit...

let's talk nativity clubs.

and let's talk about how many clubs i am currently participating in.

that's right...3!

i'm a crazy overly ambitious person and because i love all three nativities ever so, i signed up for their clubs this year. the dilemma i'm now faced with is, do i abandon all other stitching and just make 2013 the year of nativities? or do i stick with 1 set and save the other two for next year, so i can rotate other projects into the mix? any and all advice welcome!

while we're on the subject of the nativity set that i am actually stitching on, here is my progress from the hour-long junior league meeting last night. this guy will be one of my road-trip companions back to fort worth tomorrow.

Princess & Me nativity

what's that you say? one of the road-trip companions? why yes! i'm adding another canvas into the mix on this wacky wednesday. in case i need a break from the nativity, i'm packing this fun friend in my stitching bag.

i hit the road for texas tomorrow night! here's to a long weekend and some much needed R&R!

almost there!

bear with me as i have to pick up another card of white treasure ribbon...but at least one half of the stripes is done!

Princess & Me crab salad

i love how the addition of the stripes really make the crab pop on the canvas. can't wait to get him finished up!

i spent as much time outdoors as possible this weekend enjoying the beautiful spring weather. after a matinee showing at the local movie theatre, i tried a new pop up restaurant that was delicious!

and of course, many MANY walks and outside time with my favorite gal!

last week's work-week was brutal, so i'm hoping this one will be less stressful! happy monday!

starting on the stripes...

i finished up mr. crab last night and just love him!

i briefly started on the first (of many) white stripe in treasure ribbon, but am looking forward to the mindless monotony of diagonal satin this weekend...

i have plans to return back to my next nativity canvas once this guy gets finished up! stay tuned

fun weekend!

we had beautiful spring weather this weekend (before the rain came down this morning) and tried to spend most of it outside!

i was so excited when whitney told me she was coming in town for work and wanted to lunch yesterday!

we had a yummy jazz brunch at the columns hotel and it was so much fun catching up on life, love, our furry children, and yes, needlepoint. it was funny to think we had never actually met, but already felt like friends via the internet. such a fun time!

i also found time to start stitching (again) mr. crab salad. i'm much happier with the new color selection (vineyard silk "tomato")

overwhelmed and humbled...

those are the two words that have filled my mind the past few days. i am so overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of support and love from my stitching sisters! thank you so much for all your kind words, and for empowering me to fight through this!

i've tried to put on my bravest face, but trust me, i'm spitting mad! us texas women are tough cookies, and i am going to fight!

please indulge me while i post progress pics from the nativity club, even though my stitching mojo has been put through the ringer. but i have to move forward and i'm trying to think positive!

since my weekend stitching went to hell in a handbasket after le catastrophe, i was unable to finish up the background for the ram...but i'm almost there!

i love the pop of his white fur on the navy background, it really sets it off!

again, thank you so much for all your sweet thoughts...i couldn't get through this without you!

finding the silver lining...

sweet friends, unfortunately this isn't a happy post filled with pictures of progress...but it's an important topic of conversation nonetheless. i hope you bear with me for today, and we will resume our normal scheduled programming tomorrow.

after a trip to my lns this weekend, i was horrified to hear the news that my lady nutcracker stocking and water meter ornament (which had both been dropped off for finishing a while back) had been stolen.

after mending my broken heart and shedding a few tears, i got angry. who would do such a thing? do they realize that the stocking has someone else's name on it? what would someone want with an unfinished canvas?

so many people in my city lost all their possessions almost 8 years ago in the flood-waters of katrina. cherished heirlooms that could never be replaced. our friends up north experienced the same catastrophic heartbreak when their most beloved possessions washed away with sandy. 20 families in connecticut go to sleep at night praying for their babies in heaven.

at the end of the day...it's something that can be replaced. while i hate what happened, i still have hope deep in my heart that it will turn up, but i know it won't.

i hope that someone else out there has experienced this. but if not, thanks for understanding. like all obstacles in life, i will tackle this head on, and move forward.

next up...

just as i thought i was caught up with this club, i received the next canvas!

Princess & Me nativity

2nd king

he is one of my favorites in the series...so many colors and stitches! luckily the ram should be finished in no time so i can focus on this guy, in addition to getting crab salad back on the right track...

as always, have a wonderful stitchy weekend!
