diy inspiration

in my spare time when i'm not needlepointing, i like to search for creative and chic home decor ideas. one such project i've been gathering ideas on is a plate wall.

i love all things vintage and antique, and dream of having an assortment of dishes splashed across a wall. i'm always on the lookout for little treasures, and found this beauty at an estate sale last weekend for $2. i love the delicate roses around the border, and that it has a story behind it.

what do you do in your spare time (when you're not stitching)?

  1. Reading and, believe it or not, collecting plates. I have stacks that aren't even displayed! Fun past time and I can have big parties without renting dishes. Love your little $2 dishie!

    2. Ebay is my new favorite. Roundtop and thrift stores. Replacement.com for unusual. Really anywhere I can find something I like!

  2. My first love for free time is reading, always reading. However, I also love to haunt antique shops. I would love to be able to pick up more dishes but as I already have around a dozen sets of china, I need to leave most china sets behind when I find them. But they are tempting! Oh, and my second love is stitching so sometimes I combine and listen to a book on audible.com while I stitch.

  3. I love your plate wall ideas. My hubby and I go and paint a plate every year on our anniversary. He study animation so I let him do the design and I usually fill in the colors and writing. We usually pick a event or vacation from that year and put it on our plate. So far I haven't been able to find a spot for them on a wall yet. But some day I would love to display them all. Thanks for sharing your other love!
